Billion dollar Apple iPod Antitrust lawsuit

As reported on WSJ. Apple deleted the music that some iPod users had downloaded from competing music services from 2007 to 2009. This was done without notifying the users about it.

You guys decided to give them the worst possible experience and blow up a user’s music library, attorney Patrick Coughlin said in U.S. District Court in Oakland, Calif.

When user tried to sync the music downloaded from other sites with the iTune Apple showed an error message and instructed the user to restore factory settings. When the user did so as instructed the music from the rival services disappeared.

We don’t need to give users too much information,” and “We don’t want to confuse users.” said Apple security director Augustin Farrugia. He said that all this was done for security reasons.

Apple refused to comment outside court testimony.
