Apple plans 500 iOS stores in India

Apple plans 500 iOS stores in India

India is at the center of world’s attention, and surely it’s not hidden from the eyes of Apple too. Apple has been in India since 2011 however, it has yet to make its mark in the market share which is currently dominated by Samsung.

“All this will change now. The company is finalizing plans to become a serious player in India, which is being seen as a strategic and one of the most promising markets globally,” said a top company source.

As stated by TOI, Apple is planning to come up with 500 ‘iOS’ Stores in India. These stores will be spread across India with inclusion of small towns and cities included.

Apple reportedly sold a million of phones in India in a year ending September 2014. And, it has plans to treble its sales this year.

Most of these stores are going to be of 300-600 Sq-Ft area in comparison to the traditional 2000 Sq-Ft stores of Apple. There could also be a possible inclusion of franchise model spearheaded by Redington which is one of Apple’s two Indian distribution partners.
